Job Responsibilities
• Handle running large scale (400+ servers) Linux and Unix Data center environments
• Responsible to co-ordinate installation & Configuration of Linux & Unix Operating system including HP UX, Solaris, RedHat, CentOS, Ubuntu etc.
• Fine Tuning of Applications – Squid, SFTP, DNS, Sendmail etc.
• Handle Unix Shell Scripting.
• Ensure proper network security, alerting, and reporting for the infrastructure (MRTG, Nagios etc).
• Responsible to handle SAN, SCSI, NAS and related hardware systems preferred good understanding in various open source based solutions.
• Responsible to communicate technical contents and vendor management.
• Adhere to ITIL processes.
• Adhere to SLA response and resolution times and ensure cases are regularly updated.
• Responsible to Escalate problems in a timely manner as per the defined escalation matrix.
• Handle most of basic to advanced calls in User, group management, system start-up, service modification, crontab entries, ACL modifications, file system management, root & OS backups.
• Ability to guide junior L2 / L1 engineers & work alongside for troubleshooting
• Should have knowledge on Superdome architecture
• Work and Handle 24 X 7 Environment.
• Manage disaster recovery.
• Co-ordinating and Interacting with Vendor.
• System builds and configuration management.
• Configuration of Unix and Linux cluster.
• Carry out technology upgrades & migrations of applications across multiple platforms.
Skill Required
• Minimum 7+ years of working experience and at least 5 year in supporting customer on Production system administration area Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• OS certification is must in Unix and Linux
• Scripting – Good hands on in Shell, awk, sed or Perl .
• Strong knowledge on package management via RPM, Yum and Tarball.
• Strong experience of Linux internals and core system services (DNS, NFS, Samba, syslog, DHCP, NIS, NTP etc).
• Experience in directory services like LDAP System.
• Knowledge on OS installation/up gradation, patch management and Kernel up gradation.
• Experience in cluster Administration/implementation/re-buildup.
• Knowledge about OS performance and kernel tuning skills as per infra requirements.
• Knowledge on Squid Proxy servers, Web servers, Firewalls/security Knowledge of networking and Internet Protocols.
• Knowledge in databases like MySQL/PostgreSQL/Ingress Strong desire to learn new technologies and products.
• Expert in troubleshooting and resolving escalated issues.
• Knowledge on Storage Technologies.
• Knowledge on anyone backup management software i.e. Legato, Net backup, TSM, VERITAS, Omni back etc .
• Experience on Virtualization like lpar, ldom etc.
• Extensive Knowledge on Vendor Management,ITIL Process and SLA
